Want to see some books? No? Well, too bad. I'm in a book making class right now and thoroughly enjoying it despite it's very trial and error process. Heres two of the books I've made so far!
The first one is lovingly titled "Two Empty Halves of Coconuts" as it is an accordion book with coconut halves as the cover and drawings inspired by Monty Python and the Holy Grail on the inside. I was watching the movie the entire time I made it.
The second isn't a book per say. The assignment was called the "House of Cards" and the idea was to have a stack of cards and a holder for them. For mine, I made a series of tea-stained paper cards illustrated with Sami Ruin symbols and housed in a leather pouch with a found sea shell clasp. This was my first time working with leather period so I kept basic and the shell is from a collection of several I've found on the beach over the years. It's a little scary how well it came together, the shell only comes out if you twist it clockwise otherwise it's not budging.
For anyone who's curious about Sami symbols this is by far one of the best websites I've found on the subjects. It's a very interesting culture and I strongly recommend looking into it.
